Ready to take the next step?

Make a difference that lasts.

Why Work With Us

At Waymaker Haven for Children, this is more than a job—it is an opportunity to become part of a child's safe place during one of the most uncertain moments in their life.

Our team will provide compassionate, trauma-informed care for children and meaningful support for families experiencing crisis. Every employee plays a role in creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, protected, and cared for while parents and caregivers receive the support and resources they need to regain stability.

Make a Difference That Matters

Whether you are caring for a child, supporting a parent, coordinating services, providing nursing or behavioral health care, preparing a meal, maintaining our home, or working behind the scenes, your work has purpose here.

More Than Caring for Children

Working at Waymaker means caring for the family surrounding the child, too.  We believe families experiencing crisis should be met with compassion rather than judgment. Our goal is not simply to provide children with a safe place to stay. We want to help families identify their strengths, connect with resources, overcome immediate challenges, and create a safer and more stable path forward.

At Waymaker, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Protect children during times of crisis by providing a safe, nurturing, home-like environment.
  • Help keep families together by supporting parents before a temporary crisis becomes a permanent family separation.
  • Provide trauma-informed, compassionate care that recognizes each child's individual experiences, strengths, and needs.
  • Be part of something meaningful from the beginning as Waymaker grows into an important resource for children and families throughout Lucas County.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team where direct-care professionals, nurses, social workers, behavioral-health professionals, case managers, leadership, volunteers, and community partners work toward a common purpose.
  • Grow professionally through training, competency development, continuing education, mentoring, and opportunities for leadership.
  • Be heard and valued. We want employees who bring ideas, compassion, experience, and a willingness to help us continually improve the care we provide.

Come Help Us Build the Haven

Some careers provide a paycheck.

Others allow you to look back and know that a child was safer because you were there, a parent felt less alone because you listened, and a family had another chance because someone chose to help.

At Waymaker Haven for Children, we are building that kind of workplace.

Come help us keep children safe, families together, and create a stronger community—one family at a time.
