Who We Are

Not all children who come to Waymaker Haven for Children are neglected or abused but they have been affected by some level of trauma as a result of the crisis that their family is experiencing at home.  Our experienced staff is there to make the transition to our comfortable and loving home as easy as possible while the caregiver is able to get the help needed to address their crisis.  Our goal is to reduce the impact and stress of the crisis on the child that is occurring in their home.

We want to give parents the opportunity to keep the family unit together when extenuating circumstances could cause loss of custody.  We understand that everyone has had different life experiences, guidance and support that may have lead to unfortunate family circumstances.  We offer non-judgmental support to families that come to us for help, striving to communicate and demonstrate acceptance and forgiveness that leads to resiliency and personal growth.

Waymaker Haven for Children is a nonprofit (501C3) faith-based non-denominational organization open every day of the year. Our staff are screened and trained to be able to care for the children in a safe, nurturing and loving environment. We are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to care for up to 8 children at a time. In addition to the children’s residential care, we provide information and assistance to families to help them address their crises.

Anyone can make a referral or request placement for their children at Waymaker Haven for Children.  Placements depend on the availability of space and the circumstances of the children and families.
As a crisis center families maintain custody of their children while they are at Waymaker Haven for Children.
